These are pretty clear, but here's their definitions and related subjects.
- Kit: A kitten; young cat (6 or less moons).
- Apprentice: Warrior-in-training (6 moons +), taught by a warrior who has proven their bravery in battle, occasionally the Leader, and is required to help and be respectful to their elders.
- Queen: A pregnant and/or nursing female cat.
- Warrior: An able bodied clan cat, whose duties include boarder patroll and hunting and training an apprentice if they have one.
- Medicine Cat: The "nurse cat", or "healer" who's in charge of taking care of illnesses, injuries and treatment.
- Deputy: The Leader's second in command, a "Beta" if you will.
- Leader: The ruler of the clan.
These names do not apply to kittypets, or kittypets turned loner.
The Steps to creating a name:
1. Starts out as an object in nature (usually), like 'mud'. Also light, rain, blue, white, red, stone, speckle, moon, silver, sun, fire, shadow, cloud, snake, gray, smoke, storm, night, sparrow, mouse, black, lion, tiger, leopard, silent, fox, crow, raven, gold, whatever you can think of. This begins as a kit, if clan born. For example "mud" would be "mudkit".
2. If and when they become an apprentice, the leader changes the young cat's name in a cerimony (see Rituals and Cerimonies) adding 'paw' to the old name, making "Mud" into "Mudpaw".
3. If and when the cat becomes a warrior, medicine cat, occasionally elder, deputy, a body part, other nature-related, or another kind of prefix would be added, replacing the paw. For example: "
Mudpelt, or 'Sandstorm'. Also there's fur, tail, eyes, foot, claw, ear, heart, nose, whisker, stream, river, shadow, leaf, etc.
4. If and when they then succeed a leader, the replacing prefix would be 'star', looking like so, "Mudstar".
